Direct Public Access

Members of the public are now able, in some cases, to instruct a barrister for legal advice or representation without needing to also have a solicitor. Barristers who undertake direct public access work must have completed an accredited course and be registered with the Bar Council. Currently Jane Hayford and Sally Bullock undertake direct public access work.

The Bar Standards Board has issued guidance notes in relation to direct access.
