Richard Balchin is a specialist family law Barrister at New Court Chambers in the Temple and a Pupil Supervisor. Called in 1997, he has earned a reputation for delivering first rate advocacy and robust but sympathetic practical advice. His early years as a general common law practitioner in the Criminal, Civil and Family Courts has given him an invaluable broad base of legal knowledge and experience.
His Public Law work has included the most serious types of child abuse case on behalf of Local Authorities, Parents and Guardians as well as Judicial Review and Wardship. His Private Law work focuses largely on issues of Shared Residence, International Abduction and Relocation. His Finance practice comprises Matrimonial & Civil Partnership Finance, Cohabitation disputes and Schedule 1 applications. He has a particular interest in Incapacity, Mental Health and religious issues within proceedings.
